Activities

Activity and recreation are an integral part of the philosophy of care within our home’s environment.  Every day our qualified home Activities Coordinator, will organise a range of activities for you to choose from.  These activities are varied and tailored to meet the individuals interest, abilities and to meet the different stages of dementia. Activities provided include:

Pampering Sessions - Music Therapy -  Gardening - Bingo - Cookery - Knitting  - Dolls Therapy - Outside Activities - Reading Newspapers - Pet Therapy - Flower Arranging - and many more.

Our staff aim to combine a person’s past interest and hobbies with the opportunity to explore new ones. Activities provided can be on a one to one basis, or in small groups.

Residents are supported on outings i.e. to the local garden centre or feed the duck at the nearby pond.

There is a rolling program of activities planned over one month. Residents have the choice if they wish to engage in activities and are supported to join in if they wish.

We are a pet friendly nursing home and believe pets can often be therapeutic and improve a sense of well being. Pets can also reduce stress, tension and help with reminiscing.  We have a resident friendly cat, called SOX. We also have a range of animals that come to the home and we welcome visitors to bring their own pets for a short time.

We also provide celebrations for special occasions including anniversaries and birthdays. Our home welcomes families and friends to come and join us.

The home holds relatives meetings by way of Cupcake Cafe to get together and have a chat over tea and cupcakes.

In late stages of dementia when residents find difficult to join in any activities, we encouraged sensory therapy, soft music, low lighting, massage, aromatherapy.
