Angels Care Homes own Stratton House Dementia Nursing Home. Mr and Mrs Pattani have been the proud owners for more than 11 years.  The Manager of Stratton House is Tracy Rossiter.

Our Staff

 

  • The Home Manager, Tracy, has overall responsibility for day to day, management of the home and resident’s welfare.  

  • The Deputy Managers and Nurses, take charge when the manager is not available and supervise the health aspects of residents and carry out nursing duties to the required standards of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).  Our nurses are highly trained including both Registered Mental Nurses and Registered General Nurses.

  • Senior Care Staff supervise the health aspects of the resident as well as carrying out all aspects of care themselves. Senior staff hold a minimum of Level 3 Qualification in Health and Social Care.

  • Care Staff - all aspects of care helping you with washing, bathing, dressing, feeding, and supporting you when required. Their assistance is promptly and easily attained by using the call system.  All care staff hold a minimum of a level 2 Qualification in Health and Social Care.

  • Qualified Activities Co-ordinator - organises a wide range of interesting and enjoyable activities, tailored to your individual interests- have a look at the Activity Diary page for more information.

  • Kitchen staff are responsible for menu planning, food preparation and food hygiene.  All meals are prepared on the premises and take into account of individual dietary requirements.

  • Domestic and laundry staff are also here to help you. Clothes are named prior to admission.

  • Gardening and Maintenance staff.

All care staff will be appropriately qualified to deliver the highest standards of nursing care. A continuous staff training programme is implemented to ensure the highest standards are maintained, which are in line with the latest developments in care practices including those laid down in appropriate legislation, regulations, and the Care Quality Commission.

Services

  • Residents will receive prompt and appropriate health care through the Burnham and Highbridge Health Centre.

  • The home is well supported by the local Mental Health Team. 

  • Regular visits by an Optician. Opticians visit for an annual NHS eye checks and provision for spectacles.

  • A domiciliary Dental Practitioner visits the home when required.

  • A qualified Chiropodist comes to our home every 6 weeks and visits each resident in their own rooms. There is a charge for this treatment.

  • Our hairdressing room is open every Tuesday upstairs where residents are welcome. There is a charge for this treatment.

  • A programme of Activities are offered - see our Activities Page.

  • Clothes can be purchased from our visiting retailer. 

  • Daily newspapers are available at a charge.

  • Smoking is not allowed within the home due to legislation. However, there is a designated smoking area outside in a smoking shelter.

  • Alcohol is allowed, as long as it is safe to do so on medical grounds.

  • Visitors are welcome at any reasonable time, and are offered refreshments.

  • Visitors are welcome to bring well behaved pets in our home. We have a resident cat called Sox.

Accommodation

Stratton House is a delightful Victorian residence which has been carefully and tastefully converted into a Care Home.  We have two bright spacious lounges offering a relaxing environment in which to watch television, listen to music or simply to sit quietly, a large comfortable dining room, 2 bathrooms and a shower room with the necessary equipment to aid those residents who need extra support, 24 single rooms most with en-suite and a lift. The home has signage and colour schemes to assist residents with dementia to orientate themselves around the home.  The attractive garden is well-tended, with outside seating for the summer months. It is ideal for entertaining visitors. Interested residents are welcome to help with its maintenance.
 

Meal Time

Each day our team prepares a nutritious menu around resident’s individual preferences. Special diets, favourite dishes, religious and cultural diets are prepared for you.  Excellent nutritionally balanced meals. Varied menus and special diets catered for.  The home holds the highest 5 star rating for food hygiene and cleanliness.

We try to be flexible with meal times, usually it is as follows:

  • For people who wake early the night staff offer a cup of tea, biscuits and toast.

  • Breakfast is between 7.30-10.00am (you can have a cooked English or porridge, cereal with milk, toast etc) you can have your breakfast in your bed, in your room or in dining room.

  • Cup of tea, biscuits, fruits is between 10am-11am.

  • Lunch is at 12:30pm-1:30pm

  • Afternoon tea and biscuits is at 2:30pm-3.30pm.

  • Tea time is at 5:00pm-6:00pm.

  • Supper is at 8:.00pm

 

Food or drink is available at any other time day or night.


Ingredients are carefully selected for the correct vitamins, protein and fibre for healthy living.  Every meal time there is a visual choice of what is available to eat.  Specific menus are prepared after nutrition assessments, to ensure it is suitable (diabetic, swallowing problems, known allergies etc).

Sample Main Menu

  • Cottage Pie or Sweet and Sour Chicken with fresh vegetables, rice or boiled potatoes.

  • Lamb casserole or Liver and Bacon with fresh vegetables and mashed potatoes.

  • Roast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding with fresh vegetables and roast potatoes.

  • Battered Fish and Chips or Cold Meat selection with fresh vegetables or salad.

 

Sample Dessert Menu

  • Apple pie with custard or cream.

  • Rice pudding.

  • Spotted dick with custard or cream.

  • Fresh fruit salad with fresh cream.

  • Egg custard.

All our dessert menus offer the same dessert for diabetics. We also offer a wide choice of fresh fruit daily. Residents can also have Cheese and Biscuits.

We cater for special occasions such Christmas, Easter and birthdays and welcome relatives to join in the festivities. Throughout the year we have BBQ’s, cream teas and parties for all to attend accompanied by music and entertainment.
